SISHMUN 2014

 A million ideas. 9 committees. 1 goal - Let’s bring a change!

"You have to take ownership and leadership of tomorrow. For that to be possible, you have to strengthen your capacity and widen your vision as a global citizen."

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Welcome delegates! It is our distinct honour to welcome you to the Sishya Model United Nations (SISHMUN) 2013!  The success and response we received to the 2012 edition has only encouraged us to work harder to bring together this conference and raise the bar even higher!  After months of tireless work it is our great pleasure to present SISHMUN 2013. SISHMUN is known for its excellent debate and amazing out of committee experience. Not only will it be a wonderful educational opportunity, we promise it will be an eventful three days!

The United Nations was founded post world war 2 as a peace keeping body between nations. What started with fifty one countries has now grown to one hundred and ninety three, encompassing almost all the countries of the world. Model United Nations are held all over the world to bring together and empower the youth of today.  MUN is about solving world issues that affect the world at large. But at the same time MUN is also about friendship, teamwork and quick thinking. MUN is a great opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds and interact with them at a personal level, learn and be involved in decisions that affect the world we live in.  At SISHMUN, through active debates and discussions on topics that are global concerns, we aim at widening your view of our world and exposing delegates to the problems that are plaguing various nations, while we go about our daily life.  This exposure and involvement sets the path for each and every one of you to become a truly global citizen.

We are proud to announce that at SISHMUN 2013, we will be simulating a session of the G20 nations, or the Group of 20. The scope of debate at this session will be limitless.

We look forward to welcoming you to Sishya this October!
